Changeing to a fuelinjection system in a -88?

Hi, I have a Toyota corolla -88 with the 1.6litre 16valve engine with the electrionic carburettor.

I have problem with the acceleration when the engine is at working temp. The engine hesitates and dont run well when accelerating under 80km/h, above its ok. Also the engine works fine when its cold.

So what I was thinking of is switching to a fuelinjection system from a -90 corolla. Will it work? What do I need? Anyone done it?

Or do you have a better idea of how to fix the carburettor?

/Elin

Yeah you do unless you wanna half ass it. Theres no anti slosh plates inside the tank, which would cause problems during cornering. Another option would put foam in the tank.

Carb lines work fine. They're bit small... but I'm gonna change them if I need to.

with the fuel lines I would recoment running brand new ones rather then reusing old ones of a junker.

as for the anti slosh plates, might explain my fuel gauge going ALL over all the time...

yeah, the fuel gauge moves alot during curves, since the float cant get a proper reading.
Though I dont have a fuel gauge atm, because I have a fuel cell.

not so much the corners, maybe because I am not looking at it. Hills are bad and so is braking and acceleration

normal.. however, the fuel gauge isnt a precision gauge, so it doesnt matter, its function is rather simple, to give you a clue when to stop for fuel. right now I gotta take a peek in the tank and calculate how long I can drive. I need to somehow put a fuel gauge on it.

you have room to put a 20 inch glass or plastic tube on top of it? or find a stock tank that is 20 inchs deep to take the float and such from.
