Hi, I have a Toyota corolla -88 with the 1.6litre 16valve engine with the electrionic carburettor.
I have problem with the acceleration when the engine is at working temp. The engine hesitates and dont run well when accelerating under 80km/h, above its ok. Also the engine works fine when its cold.
So what I was thinking of is switching to a fuelinjection system from a -90 corolla. Will it work? What do I need? Anyone done it?
Or do you have a better idea of how to fix the carburettor?
you dont need a fuel tank from a fi ae92.Theres already a hole in the tank all you need is the pump and the fuel pump brackets.Your gonna need the fuel lines from the fi ae92.I got fuel lines for $3.00 u.s. from the junkyard.
1. Fuelpump + brackets + fuellines.
2. Injectors
3. Wiring
4. Ecu -? computerbox, right?, my english ain't that sharp. :/
5. Sensors for water temp, air temp and map. -map??
6. Blockoff plates for the carb fuelpump and egr. -??
How much work is needed to make a change to fi? hours? days?
Yeah you do unless you wanna half ass it. Theres no anti slosh plates inside the tank, which would cause problems during cornering. Another option would put foam in the tank.

Carb lines work fine. They're bit small... but I'm gonna change them if I need to.
yeah, the fuel gauge moves alot during curves, since the float cant get a proper reading.
Though I dont have a fuel gauge atm, because I have a fuel cell.
normal.. however, the fuel gauge isnt a precision gauge, so it doesnt matter, its function is rather simple, to give you a clue when to stop for fuel. right now I gotta take a peek in the tank and calculate how long I can drive. I need to somehow put a fuel gauge on it.
