My 86 Corolla mystery

Hey everyone, about 10 years ago, my family bought a great little corolla, the 1986 Corolla, LE, Hatchback, in Red. Great car, still running today but nearing the end of its life, and we're planning to buy a new car. Now I was 9 years old when the car was bought, but now, turning 19 soon I thought I'd look at the history of this Corolla.

Now a few years ago id seen some of the famous Initial D anime, esp. the parts with the trueno, great car, fell in love with it. Went out and bought Gran Turismo....almost just to drive the Trueno...

Suddenly..today as I was lookin at car reviews it suddenly clicked..coudl it be that my rusty piece if junk that I love...the Corolla may possibly off of the same chassis, and overall design, and more importantly, of the same engine as ...THE SPRINTER/Trueno?!?

So I come to you, to seek advice as to how to find out what chassis I own and what car it is e.t.c..

Here is a picture of a similar Corolla of the net...

Thanks for all info...appreciate it.

not sure about canada, but in the USA, i'm pretty sure there's nothing like that kind you just posted, the corolla in your link is a 1.5L with 4 doors, i'm guessing it could be the 4 dr wagon.

Sorry dude, not the same car. You have an AE82 Front wheel drive chassis, the AE86 Rear wheel drive chassis is what you're thinking of. Sorry to break your Initial D dreams dude.
