AE92 check engine light comes and goes away...

everything feels to be functioning ok... but after driving a while my check engine light lights up for sec and then goes away.
I see no correlations with temperature or oil pressure.
the longer I drive the longer it takes to go away after it lights up... as the days go by it comes on sooner than usual and stays on longer...

anyone know whats going on or where to look?

1988 corolla gts

Could be the 02 sensor. Can you read the trouble codes?

Sounds like a frayed wire picking up moisture and "shorting it out"

Well yeah.. find a pattern in the blinking, it might go short short, then long blink OR short long short long, etc.. there's always a pattern in the blinking once you've shorted the terminals; then you reference that pattern to the codes.

Constant even blinking means no error codes.

Could be an ecu fault, or perhaps speed sensor fault. Any other fault and the ECU would remember it.

does it happen ever time you drive it.

ahhh... well maybe that's what it's refering to if what you're saying is right. My speedometer cable broke, so I'm always going 0 mph. However, it did not trigger the day it broke, it lit up days after. Also it only lights up after about 20 minutes of driving... on and off inconsistently, any more driving than 20 minutes it stays on.

it is constant even blinking, but correct me if I'm wrong... doesn't it have to be even blinking with pauses between each blink to mean that nothings wrong?

I have it blinking rapidly, evenly, and relentlessly with no breaks...

thanks guys for being attentive to my matter by the way
