More Power for 4 cyl. 1.8L Corrolla??

Hi, I'm a first time Toyota owner. I love it, and just bought it last week. I'm use to a V6 car and I'm curious how to make my 2005 4cyl 1.8L Corrolla perform a little faster, or have quicker acceleration. I'm not expecting V6 performance (lol) but there might be an upgrade I can do.

Does anyone have 1 or several recommendations for upgrade options that may give me a little more horsepower or acceleration? Thanks for the help.

Downshift ! Then accelerate. Overhead Cam engines make most of
their power at higher RPMs around 4000 rpm. The maximum speed in 2nd gear must be at least 60 kph. Use that tranny, thats why you can get 6 speeds these days to stay in the sweet spot of the engine power band.

Corolla Performance Chip - Corrolla Sport?

I have an automatic, but I'll make it downshift.
I was looking online for a performance chip, but didn't find anything for corolla. What are some of the differences between the Corolla Sport engines and the Corolla? Does the Corolla Sport have more horsepower?

2nd gear 60 km/h wtf... on a 5 speed? mine goes to 100 km/h, first goes to 50 km/h

like he said. Keep the rpm up, learn where it feels most powerful. Because the power rating at a certain rpm may not be that way anymore on an older engine as parts do wear out.

you can do exhaust, intake to get the engine more free flowing. Keep the oil clean and changed, spark plugs (worn out ones aren't going to help you). You can have the timing altered to pull more power from it. Some people remove the belt on the power steering pump for rack and pinion but I wouldn't recommend this as it's harder on your steering rack as it was designed as a power unit. If the ac doesn't work you can always remove the belt on that.

if you looking at spending more money you can always do things like the cams and/or a turbo.
