Toyota Newby Questions

OK, my son and daughter-in-law just moved in and she has a 2000 Corolla. It seems to be using a lot of oil. There is no apparent blue smoke that I would expect from thios much oil usage and thogh there is some oil on the engine, I would expect to see more, and maybe some drips on the driveway.

So, I decided I was going to check the plugs to see if it was apparent that it was burningoil. Where the heck are the spark plugs??!! I see no plug wires or any other indication where they might be..... Now, I didn't crawl under the car or remove anything but they surely not where I would expect to find them...

Ditto on the PCV valve -- where is it???

It's Sunday nite and too late to go out and buy a Chilton's so I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

Thanks,
Mike

New cars tend to have big (pointless) covers over the engine, you'll have to remove that to look at anything. As for using oil i'd say its the oil control rings, seems to be a pretty common failure.

i agree about the oil rings its a common failure on 93-97 1.8L corolla's and seems to be fairly common with the 98-99's aswell. They will typically go through about 1Litre every 1000km and its not enough for it to smoke it will just be high in HC and NOX come emmission test time
