Sorry, I dont have an answer for you, however I would like to chime in on the annoying rattles. I have an 03 S, and have become severely anynoyed with the different sounds my car makes.
Of course the engine is a solid runner, its the interior panels. My back interior panels that run to the rear window. they started rattling and Toyota wanted far to much to pull the panels off to see why. I know why though...its because the are loose, and with every single bump in the road I get creaking noises from the back of the car, not to mention some sqeaking noise being emitted through my air vents. To top it off the ground skirts in the front of the car are loose as hell, you can see through the cracks in the seems.
I know your thinking I beat my car. I drive aggressive on the freeway, but never really race or spin my tires, anything of that nature. Toyota wont do anything for me without a month's worth of my pay, telling me that it isnt covered in the warranty...WELL OF COURSE IT ISNT! You woundnt sell any cars if u had a warranty claims to put your car back together once it falls apart
