Charging System Issues

Hey all,

I'm having an issue that I can't figure out, hopefully someone can help. I have a 1991 Prizm with a large aftermarket stereo and DVD system in it. A few weeks back I ran the battery dead watching a movie in a parking lot with some friends and had to jump it to gete it going. The next morning I had to jump it again, then it was fine for a few weeks until I left my interioir light on overnight. I charged the battery, the meter read full but the car still would not start, dim lights and all. SO I bought a new battery yesterday and am having the same problem, the door chime barely even sounds because the current is so weak.ANy ideas of what to do or where to look? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

Christian

Alternator not giving you a good charge, a bad ground somewhere on the car, or you got a short somewhere.

What meter did you use to tell if the battery was full?

Are the lights dim before you engage the starter?
Using a weak battery that long may have cooked the starter as well as the alternator.
