I wouldnt start cutting, because you wont get a power increase even if you do it.

on my car I took off the intake crap up to where the airfiler part is. Found it feels a little better with it off and I get a little better milage, thinking maybe that rubber piece is full of bugs since my air filter had a bunch in it.

ok gongfai its basic.

1. uplug wires take out plugs.
2. put in new plugs 1/4 turn after it gets tight.
3. take off old cap w/ wires still on.
4. new cap w/ new wires match up sizes. f.y.i dizzy (as ren calls it) rotates clockwise. firing order 1,2,3,4.
5. take off old rotor. put on new rotor.
6. put on new cap w/new wires already on. (so you dont get mixed up)
7. put wire on new plugs. start her up. ( i put anti seze on the bottom of the plugs and dielect all in the wires.)

freak
i like the intake crap i just want to add like a tube that goes to the bottom of the car with a scoop so air gets shoved in there.

If you still use the stock filter an airbox, your still breathing through a straw. The only way your going to get an agressive sound and performance is to make a tubular intake and run the piping down near the air dam. I'll get a pic of mine.

Mine is a full Cold Air Intake that reaches right below the trans picking up cool air from the road.

IT is a 90 degree bend, 15 degree bend and a 25 degree bend held together by silicone fittings and clamps with a K&N cone type filter on the end. It cost about 50 bucks all together. I bought a shortram style off ebay for 20, 10 more for a 90 degree bend and 10 for the clamps and hoses and 10 for the filter. I would say it gave me an honest 4-5 hp and a much throatier sound.

It doesn't pull that much harder than the stock airbox till about 3000 rpm, but then you can really feel the difference and sound. Sometimes you get better gas mileage, I did.

lol sure

Perfomance mods dont add to mileage, they subtract them, always. You wont get power with just air, you need added fuel. Plus the whole issue is, since the head is the bottle neck, you wont get gains with just an airfilter and a muffler.

Well fine, it gave me absolutely no horsepower, yet it pulls so much harder than the stock box??

Maybe not any more peak horsepower, maybe it made more torque? Who knows, the exhaust, header and intake work with each other to make the power. Eventually ill be porting the head with a thicker head gasket for the turbo anyway.

Don't expect to gain 100 hp from an intake.. maybe a few, maybe a slight decrese in tq, but it will move you hp up in the rpm range, allowing you to rev higher, and room for more gear.
