2ZZ Transmission Noise

He everyone! First post.

I have an XRS with just over 15,000 miles on it. Recently the transmission has been making a grinding sound when the car is hot. It is most evident in deceleration from 4000 rpms down. Fist is very loud, probably because of having less tire/road noise. The noise vanishes as you depress the clutch.

Anyone have a similar situation? Is this normal? The dealer has replaced a series of bearing in the trans. and I have a new clutch and flywheel at this point. No change in the noise.

Help!

In a way, but more like normal transmission noise.

You think I have a detonation issue on top of a noisy trans? I'm entertaining any ideas at this point.

Don't I know you from somewhere?

your details are somewhat vague, I'm just curious as to why you're sure that it's the transmission. And the beebies in a can noise isn't necessarily detonation.

know me??....no, I doubt it

The car in your sig belongs to a poster "adman" on 9thgen. I assumed you were that person, but then you may have actually stolen someones sig.

I think it is the transmission because is sounds like the transmission. The noise stops when you push in the clutch. A Toyota Tech thought it was the transmission and replaced most of the internal transmission bearings. The clutch and flywheel have also been changed. The noise persists.

I've also had a local friend that is a Toyota tech listen while I had the car on a lift and he said the noise was coming from the transmission case.

So, I'm stumped and trolling for others that have similar problems while I wait on another guy with and XRS and similar problems to get a new "transaxle" to see if that solves the problem.

What's your big idea?
