Exclamation Help Quick!!!!

i have a 1997 toyota corolla 1.6 4afe 5 spedd..i got a sunpro min tachometer and i need help real fast on how to wire it up..the black wire goes to ground, white wire goes to lighting so it will dim when u turn my lights on at night, the green wire is supposed to read the RPM of the motor..i dont know where to hook this up..coming out of my distributor there are 4 wires.. green, white, black and black with orange stripe..which wire do i use? also..the power wire..the red wire..do i hook it up to the battery or a remote source..

heres how i have it wired...i have the red wire hooked up the my radio so when it turns on my tach turns on.. my ground is spliced into my radio ground. my light is together with the illumination wire on my radio and my green wire is on the pure black wire coming out of the distributor

There is a tach signal in the diagnostics port on 4ages, I would assume 4afes are the same.

do you happen to know which one it is???and there are 2 diagnostic ports in my corolla..i have one under the hood and one around the pedals...like under the steering wheel

The wires from the distributor wont work, two are constant hot with the key on, and the other 2 are low voltage(ac) cam position sensor wires. If you have an ignitor, which i believe the 97 does, there is a tachometer lead from there. thats where i spliced my tach lead into.

wherer is this wire?????its supposed to hook to the negative side of the coil but where is the coil..i cant find it

It will be under the bonnet, just go and look. Your lucky as your car will have english writing on it.

(that's what sucks about my car, all the fuse diagrams are in japanese)

im very glad u said this..i feel alot better...my tach may not be broken
but hopefully someone knows where the coil is and how i can find it

I was talking about the diagnostics port. But the coil will be on the side of the engine bay, on the passengers side although my car is RHD.

Take the cap off and read the inside of it, it will be writen in there.
