1990 GTS Question

I have a 1990 Corolla GTS with 210,000 k's on it. I have a problem with it running totally out of power and almost stalling going into 2nd gear when it's a little cooler. It seems almost like a timing issue, or not getting fuel. I've had it to 2 separate mechanics and they can't seem to find what is wrong with it. The part I can't understand is in only happens if it's cooler out. Once the engine warms up it has tons of power. Any suggestions?

plugged cat converter maybe.. I know my 90 GTS is having a similar problem but mine is very sluggish, I know the car barely passed emissions test when I bought it so I'm sure the cat is in need of replacement. I already have a Magnaflow cat waiting to be put on.

I had the same problem on my 89 GTS and once the cat was replaced, the sluggishness went away.

you say exhaust i say ignition but since you already had and fixed the problem yea listin to the guy aboue me.

Does it stall going into 2nd gear only or the others as well? If it isnt the cat like ren suggests then I would check fuel filter, and vacuum lines. The stock engine on the corolla has tons of tiny vacuum lines.

Replace the Fuel filter, plugs wires and cap. It may just feel when it's cooler but a clogged Fuel filter has a tendency to lower fuel pressure when the engine sits for a while.
