been gone for awhile, heres an update on the 86 sedan

As sad as it sounds, i still have the pos ae82. shes rolling at around 330k miles on the chassis and roughly 150k on the junkyard engine. about a month ago it started to make a rather loud knocking sound. I then drove it home and pulled the valve cover, only to find that the #5 rocker arm stud has stripped out the head. yay.
i took this opportunity to pull all the studs, machine them, sink them deeper in the head, JB weld them, then attached the rocker arm with 2 nuts on each stud. worked like a charm.

then the friggen noise came back. this time i pulled the oil pan, and the rod caps, and found that the #3 rod bearing had spun and ruined itself. JOY.
so now im in the process of installing new bearings. fun time for me.

and im sure you all are wondering why i am going through this. well, its quite simple. this is my first chance to get into an engine this deeply, so its a bit of a learning experience. if she blows up after i get done. to hell with it. but for now, im enjoying this.

actually, the truth of the matter is that the car belongs to my father, and it is mine to take care of. though i am going to be getting a new car in the near future, so all of this might very well be trivial as hell.
