Question Any ideas on this one?

Well as I stated in a previous thread Im in the process of rebuilding our 93 Corolla (7FAE 1.8L DOHC). I almost have the block put back together, today was working on the head and removing the valves when I found what is in the pics below. I have never seen anything like this before (and I have rebuilt many engines). Anyone at all have any idea what could cause this to happen to a valve?

Anyone have ANY ideas and want to shed some light on this for me?

PS: Sorry for the low quality photos

Perhaps a foreign object was sucked into the intake manifold.

is that a chipped exhaust or intake valve??>might have warped possible from too much heat causing one side to pop out kinda and when it hit the valve seat it just broke..but it might not have done nething to the piston and everything inside..it MAY have just passed on through the exhaust valve and out the exhaust..???

chipped valves are pretty common in the 4/7afe motors.... when it happens usually all that occurrs is a pretty erratic idle that can't be easily fixed....
