Question AE82 driveshaft boot replacement problem

Hi there, can anyone help me urgently please. I am trying to replace the driveshaft boot on my daughters corolla. I cant undo the driveshaft connecting bolts, is there a special trick?

There is not enough space to get your hand on the spanner, is there a special tool I need to use?

Thanks in advance
Simon

I don't know what you mean by the drive shaft bolts - of course I'm only familiar with the 1990 and later Corollas. On those there is a nut on the end of half axle nearest the tire and its friction-fit on the other end into the differential. Were you talking about taking the joints that are covered by the boots apart?

Thanks for your help, but the problem is that I connot undo the 6number 12mm hex heads that connect the drive shaft to the flange of the diff. There is not enough space to get a 12mm socket and ratchet in the space under the throttle bodies, and the nuts are to tight to use a ring- open end spanner that will fit into the space. Is it possible to use two long extensions on the socket and run then out into the wheel arch via the hole that the tie rod passes? or is there a factory tool that fits into the space?

Can you use a box type (open ring) wrench with an extension? This being a piece of pipe or another open-end wrench mated to the open end of the wrench you are using. There are box wrench tools with abbreviated handles allowing the use of extension handles. Or cut off the box end of the wrench leaving about 3 inches of handle, then use an extension handle (piece of pipe).
