Parts......

Ok, I got my ae102(hence my name) and the power window still isn't fixed (PM me for info if you can help). I'm lookin for some cheap slap on performance. I know a PYP place nearby so I might go look for a turbo kit off of a Mr2 or something. I know I'm gonna buy an cai/rai intake and I'm lookin for some cheap on demand power. A turbo would be a small quick winding one for some nice low end power. Also what would the turbo do for mpg? More than likely it will go down but by how much from my 30??? Thanks for any help!

yeah, it would go down... how much depends on how much you throttle and stay on boost.

you cant expect performance and mileage, its either or. I'd just skip the cai, etc and just get the turbo.. .oh wait thats what I did.

heres what my intake looks like (construction pics)

... yeah its a cold air intake alright

could you throw together a parts list to snag off of a MR2? I'm probably gonna go get the parts this coming weekend after getting paid(near $300) and I know the owners of the PYP so I'll get some kinda discount.....Thanks for your help

I wouldnt know what an MR2 has.
Chances are the only parts you could use would be the fuel system and turbocharger.
Rest are most likely gonna have to be custom made.

I always though super chargers were for low end and turbo's for more the mid to high end. I understand there is less lag in a small turbo but still.

freakin box - Small turbos are designed for a really quick wind. Superchargers are for creating power throught your powerband. A turbo is designed for a certain RPM range where the exhaust will propel the air into the intake at an optimal level.

Flashmn - I know I gotta get the turbo, intake, exhaust, and intercooler. Wold I be better off at a PYP for the MR2 idea or just buy an HKS turbo kit? I'm going to get the c.a.i made asap.

I'd just leave the MR2 stuff, chances are the turbo is shit. Nor would I get a HKS turbokit, not worth for the money it costs.

I'd have a custom manifold made, ask around from honda-tech, theres lots of guys who make manifold, I'm sure they could make one for your car. Get a Garrett, Turbonetics, etc brand name turbocharger (not ebay shit). Get the fuel system sorted out, stand alone EFI system is the best, Haltech, etc up to you. Wastegate, bov, and a FMIC.
I'm sure expenditures would be less of those with the HKS kit and performance would be better.

I'm reviewing the plan for this car right now...I might skip the turbo and sell it now for a bmw(e36) I'm looking at. I just have to get that damned window fixed and a new coat of paint. The reason I say this is because I thought it would be an easy job for a quick speed boost offf of an old turbo off of a car but apparently not.

no... adding a turbo isn't a simple affair on a 4/7A-FE there aren't very many parts made for a FI setup your gonna have to make them or have them made!

BTW have you looked into swaping the engine? thats another way to make some power like 4agze or 3sgte

also consider Nitrous for quick cheap power!

Hey flashmn um that upper rad hose looks a tad close to your exhaust manifold!!!!
