It seems like everytime i ask this question it's as an afterthought and it doesn't get answered fully so i figure i'll ask it as a seperate thread. i want to get new wheels and tires for my ae92 sedan but i don't know what i should get. i want those tires with the low wall, but i don't know what size i need. i also wanted to get bigger wheels but also, i don't know what size to get with low wall tiresi've seen pleanty of rollas on this forum with thekind of whee;/tire setup that i want, and wanted to know what the best setup would be for drifting so that i have minimal titre roll, but no scraping. also, i need new shocks and struts and i want them to be pretty stiff, what kind would you suggest? also, are the chassis of the ae92 sedan and coupe the same? would the mirrors, seats and bumpers off an ae92 coupe fit on an ae92 sedan? i appreciate your help.
first of all... Most go with a 195 for width, not sure on the sidewall. So thats a 6.5 wide rim, and they go 38 offset
You can do a 205/45/r16 which is what I have. with a 42 offset you will have to find tires without a rim protector on the side, I was told it's not a huge deal if it rubs off.
Your looking for a tire with a stiff sidewall, I find the fuzions have a STIFF sidewall (ren agrees with me ) But it will come down to your personal taste.
Low wall tyres on a corolla are generally 205/15/R18. These are the ones with ultra-low profile (15% of the total width). These will greatly affect the ride quality, and i think you will need to adjust the speedo to match the tyres too... But 205 is about as wide as you can get without getting gawdy looking fender flares...

195 width? offset? those phrases mean nothing to me :P could u send me the link to an ad for tires/wheels that are what you would recommend. i tend to understand better after i see a picture. i want to keep about the same width or the wheels, but make them as high as they can be while still being practical.
Just go to a wheel/tire shop and tell them you want a set of either:
a. 14x6 or 14x7 inch rims with 38-39offset and a set of decent 185/60-14 or 195/55-14 tires.
b. 15x6.5 or 15x7 inch rims with 38-39offset and a set of decent 195/50-15 or 195/55-15 OR 205/50-15 inch tires.
c. 16x7 inch rims with 38-39 offset and a set of decent 205/40-16 or 205/45-16 tires.
Remember the bigger the sidewall (the 45, 50 and 60 part of the tire size) the more confortable the tire is, and the smaller it is, the better the tire will perform, but the more you will "feel" the road.
the smaller it is, the better the tire will perform,
Only to a point, have a look at the tyres on a race car. Even circut cars don't have that low a profile. Its more about the construction of the tyre than the hight of the side wall.

thanx for the help guys, i apreciate it. for sure a 38-39 offset would not mess w/ my steering? to thespud, yes i will have to adjust the speedo, does anyone know how i would go about doing that btw? can i do it myself? and what about the other questions i had, anyone have any idea about those?

I agree with REN about the tires. Go with a 195/55/14 or 195/50/15. If you are doing it just for looks dont waste your time. For overall performance and all around driving you will be much better off with these size choices. Koni is one of the best for struts and GC coilovers. Eibach makes a prokit that will lower your car a good bit. Look on club4ag.com and you will find several writeups about springs and struts etc....The seats would fit. I dont know about the bumper or the mirrors. I dont think the bumper would though. Why would you want to take parts out of a coupe instead of driving it? Good Luck

Hmm accordding to the tire caculator says 205/30/r18... but meh. They are smaller than the tires I have. the largest you can go is what I have without hitting the rear suspension for the diameter.

Dude - the Diameter is going to stay the same. That is what the tyre calculator is for. Whoever told you you got the 'largest diameter without hitting the suspension' was on crack. Unless you went up in profile, this aint gonna happen.
Width is a different story altogether... But as i said 205 is about the widest you can go, and reducing the profile as i said in my original post to 15% will require ajusting the speedo. He did ask for 'Low wall'. 15% is low...

umm ask anyone who has checked out the rear tires on my car. they will also tell you that anything larger on the ae92 will rub the rear suspension where the spring is....
