so i'm dropping a 16v 4ag into my coupe 86 and i'm not using a heater core... can i block off the ports where the water flows from or do i have to loop the lines?
I'd say its a very marginal loss of weight. I wouldnt bother, especially if the core is fully functional.
If you ever travel north or cold places, its nice to have it.
hahaha. it would be more use to stop going to mcdonalds and lose few pounds off from your waist than to take out the heater core. Especially since theres good use for it.
i'm for weight reduction, but the heater and blower assembly really aren't that heavy. Even if its strictly a race car, the defogger and/or means of venting heat helps out.

and the extra "radiator" in case of overheat on a track is handy as well

Do yourself a favor and dont bypass the heatercore. Leave it where it is. If you ever need it or want it, it may be a PITA to put back in. Why are do want to remove it anyway?
cuz my cars got no dash or any of that unnecessary bullshit and i want the firewall to be clean... btw i live in florida where it never goes below 90 degrees EVER so there's no way I'd ever need it...

hmm..... 100* outside.... racing on a road course track.... and "oh shit, my car is overheating"..... switch to heater.... and nothing there
having the heatercore is handy just because it will help take HOT WATER AWAY FROM THE ENGINE if the engine were to overheat.....

it's just a drift car to fuck around with on the weekends... now... forget about my engine overheating... is it absolutely necessary for the water to flow through there?
