noise problem of corrola

I get the 9994 corrola in last winter. I have found a strange problem with the car. If the weather is cold(such as below 55), the muffler becomes very load, especially in the early minute after u start the car. it will be even worse if the whether is freezing? After you driving for some time(5 to 10 min), then the noise gradually disappear. In summer time, the muffler works as normal. But since the winter is coming, the noise becomes to show up in the morning now. I speculate that the muffler need to be hot to be working normally. but I am not sure where is the exact problem of the muffler. Can anybody tell me which part I need to replace/fix? I greatly appreciate your help.

it's probably (and correct me if im wrong somebody) the fact that metal shrinks a bit when it's cooled, therefore the parts in ur exaust system are probably slightly deformed form the cold, which causes the noise that goes away in warmer weather, but like i said, i don't know about the workings of a car, so im just giving my conclusion based on physics :P please correct me if im wrong.
