i have a 1989 ae92 corolla 4af engine. although i have a steering problem. my car makes a repeated knocking sound or rubbing sound while i'm making a 45 to 90 degree left/right turn. also my struts is dead. what might be the problem to this sound. whats my solution? thanx in advance.

Might be CV joint.

That knocking sound is either your CV joints like Flashmn said or its your strut tower getting smacked with your dead struts. If they are as worn out as you say then I would guess that because there is no resistance to them and they are basically floating in and against the springs and the tower. You need to change them quickly!
