tranny swap

Hey I drive a 93 AFE-4 (1.6L). Recently I replaced the cracked exhaust manifold with headers because they were the same price as a manifold so I figured why not. Now my problem is I have a 3spd automatic in it which I hate with a burning passion. I can get a 5 spd manual tranny for a couple hundred used, and I was wondering if anyone knew how much the rest of the parts I would need for the conversion (clutch kit, shifter, flywheel etc) would cost. I work in a garage, so labor is free, I'd just like to know the prices of the parts. Thanks.

just did a conversion. It helped tremendously I had a donor. Don't forget the rear mount, and mount below tranny my crossmember was diff. and that the safty switches are diff. One on the ignition must be have the cable cut to leave in the open pos. and the wiring on the neutral safety swich must be jumped Blk/Blk w/ wht. strp. The cables were a pain (phillips screws on floor/firwall were tight) and was tight getting clutch tubing down into place w/o taking loose brake lines prob. help if engine is out (I know it does, no prob. to it)

It's a 4AFE actually.. the price depends on what you're going with, if you go to a junkyard and get the parts from a wrecked car, you're not looking at overkill. If you get the parts from the dealer, I hope you got deep pockets.

Your best bet, find a wrecked car and recycle!
