USA Brake Rattle 05 Corolla s

Ok here is a thinker.... not too long ago I have replaced all the brake pads with TRD brake pads from my local toyota dealer, I am extremely tough on the brakes also, but now when Im going over about 55 and when you hit the brake to slow down, the rear left wheel starts to sort if "vibrate" like its catching and releasing the drum at a fast rate.... I was thiking since the read drums were not replaced with the new pads 'cause my dealer said not to worry cause they are almost new, I was thiking that I may have warped the rear drum... I dont mind buying a new set of drum or getting these machined if that is what it is.....

Check and make sure your lugs are tight first. It may sound stupid but its worth it to check them. Check and make sure your hub bolts are also tight. You may need to have your drums turned, if so I would put new shoes on them. Personal choice though. Next time you replace your front brake pads. Check out summit racing.com they have a pad called VGX that have aluminum shims on them so they are super quiet. They have very littel brake dust too.

The rear brake shoes were replaced and I was ready to drop down money to buy new drums just in case, but the mechanic at the dealer (freeman toyota) assured me that that was a waiste of money for now, and they are still OK, but since the hot hot hot weather in texas and the fact that I am very rough on the brakes makes me think that I may have overheated the drum and warped it, but It doesnt bother me that much, just a thot

And I did check all the bolts on the wheel and on the drum brake assebly everything seems to be OK, and when I took the drum out it looked like one small portion of it about 1/2in was a diff color than the rest of the inside of the drum..... Im gonna see what the brake guys have to say when I go see them....

Hey thats cool. Let us know what he says. Just so you know. Your back brakes only wear about 1/3 as fast as your front brakes, especially being drum brakes. So for about every 3rd set of front brake pads you go through, you need to concern yourself with the back brakes. Good Luck
