i want to p&p my head, get jet to reprogram my ecu, bore and stroke the hell out of it, get high compression pistons, and get some forged rods. how much power you think i will yield from doing this on an auto 95' 7afe? alonh with sri, full edhaust, headers, new plugs and wires??
Few things, I dont want to kill your enthusiasm, but have you considered forced induction?
Also ditch the automatic, thats gonna be the biggest bottleneck.
Secondly, some of those mods you mentioned arent needed unless you really plan to go high-hp and thats not gonna happen with those mods. Also you cant really stroke a 7A-FE and boring is limited to couple of mm.
You guys that live in countries with no smog controls, why not just dump a V6 in there? I mean if you want a bunch of horses a V6 will do far more than these little 1600's.
Isn't there a V6 that will swap out? I really don't know, but if there is..
i got a 1.8, not a 1.6 andi wanna do a auto to manual conversion, but it'll cost me round $1800 to do it, thats what dr. tweak told me, which i dont think is a bad price. would a 4age 20v blacktop head yeild soem more power and were would i find one? ebay??
correct me if i'm wrong, but wouldn't a v6 be too big an engine for the earlier corollas? im not sure about the newer ones, but earlier corollas were designed for handling, not speed, and to drop something that large in the engine bay would probably require lots of chassis and suspension modification, but like i said, correct me if i'm wrong.
If they can stuff a 4.0L V8 into an AE86 then a V6 should fit.
Corolla-18s, just get an Automatic 20V swap done into your car, cost you less than doing all that work to your motor and you'll still end up with more power.
Im a big fan of the 20v ST and I would have to agree with REN. If you dont want to go with a 20v and you are going to spend a bunch of money on the 7afe then why not just get a 4agz? At least that way you dont have to mod it. It comes already done for you.
You'll probably make enough power to destroy the transmission, if that's what you're wondering...but by all means go for it, I could use some numbers on just how much the A245E will handle at failure point.
Seriously, if your bottom end is in good shape, you'll get a lot more results for the money by just dropping the cash for some custom rods (a must!), getting a decent turbo setup, and running as much boost as that transmission can handle. You'll have to look into getting it bulked up through, say, Level10 or IPT though. Also, for what it would cost for an ECU reprogram you could probably pick up a Megasquirt to handle your increased fuel and spark requirements.
