corolla with 190-200 km?

i want to buy a ’96-98 corolla. just checked dealers around me – the average mileage is 190-200+ km. i’ve never had this car before and do not know what I should expect having 200km on it. the problem also is that half of people tell me that corolla is a very reliable car up to 300km, another half tells me that even 160 km for 4 cylinders is too much…. i have a limited budget and can go up with price.
really appreciate your opinions. thanks

hell most civics and corolla's from 2000 have more then 250 000km on it as commuters tend to buy them. I think 190 km is fine... 160 000 km is NOTHING on a car. Hell most of us driving older corollas have 200 - 300k

Only problem with higher km cars is the fact your hoping proper maintenance was done on them, because for some reason some people think toyota's and honda's can run of air for lubricant, or REALLY REALLY dirty oil.

that's what i would do, also take it to a mechanic to get it checked over before you buy it, ppl do some crazy things to cars... as long asit checks out you can probably expect it to be a very reliable car.

160km too much for a 4cyl? my 89 GTS has 350,000km... and I know more than enough cars with over 300k so obviously they don't know WTF they're talking about.

200K or so you should really look at what maintenance was given to the car and what it will need as sometimes people sell the cars at this age because they don't want to spend the money on required maintenance.

I bought my 89 GTS with 211k and basically had to put about a little bit of money due to a few things needed. T-belt had been done so that was ok, but I needed a rad, clutch at 250k and rear calipers at about 230k.

the only problem is you probably can't check to see when the oil changes were done so thats a guess.

there is nothing wrong with a corolla with 200 k. i've never had any problem with my car yet and it's at 195k and my mom has the same car but a year newer and she has 220 and no problems, without a doubt they are pretty reliable.
