Washing Engine

Anyone have a pictorial as of what I need to cover up to wash the engine bay for a 87' GTS?

Thanks

Be careful!!

Last summer I tried to wash my engine and got lots of water somewhere I shouldn't have causing my car to misfire like CRAZY! I had to bring it to a shop to get all the water drained. I covered the distributor, battery, removed and covered the intake and covered all the electrical wires I could find and still managed to f*** my car up.

This is a good example why is says "noob" beside my user name

I washed my engine like a month ago, need to do it again soon...
What I did was I covered my filter pod, the distributor and the fuse boxes.. then I took out some 3M engine cleaner solution and sprayed the engine generously with that.. then took a garden hose with just slight pressure and just washed the cleaner off to get most gunk off... then put some more cleaner, took out a sponge and then sponged the bigger crap off... looks good now

when i washed my engine bay, i used my friends garage....

sprayed the stuff where it was need the most, then sprayed it down with high water pressure.....then used a air nozzle to dry the valve valley and inside the distributor cap. and it worked fine after ward, no mifire, just lotta mist:p

but yea, make sure you dry the distributor cap (inside if the o ring is old) and the valve valley and also ur air filter if you have intake...

its amazing how much liquid the valve valley sucks into ur cumbustion chamber between the thread on your spark plugs.

if you still scared to pressure wash the engine

pull out a toothbrush and lots of rags... clean everything by hand and wipe away little by little

very time consuming but it should work and nothing will get filled with water
