AE92 My AE92 GTS reached 216,000

my AE92 reached 216,000 miles now and is there anything I should look for? I always change the oil every 2 months using synthetic quaker state oil and i always change the air filter every 3 months. I was wondering what I should look out for and what is the average mileage of an engine rebuild for the 4AG? Im asking because my other ae86s has less than 170,000 miles and im actually sort of scared.

I don't think you have anything to panic about, there's a 4af driving around here with over 400 000 on it, mine has 240 000 on it, rens 4age has over 300 000.

I say maybe check your oil pan and valve cover gaskets for small oil leaks? You could also glance over any vacume lines.

That's Km's though.. not miles, I think 214,000miles is roughly about 340,000kms in which case he's basically hanging with me.

I wouldn't worry about rebuilding though, 4AGEs are cheaper to buy used and they're very easy to find at motor shops.

Before I swapped my engine I had 248,000 miles on my 4age and it was running great. It got about 28mpg in town and 35-36 mpg on the highway. It had been driven hard and yeah it had some minor leaks from the front main, and a little blowby from the valvecover gaskets. It ran great, and those little leaks had no affect on its day to day abilities. The only reason I swapped mine was because I got a good deal on a 20v ST and had wanted one for a long time. If I could post a pic of it I would. Ask Ren, he has seen it. But not to worry, dont look for leaks to happen. If they do, worry about them then. Do your normal maintenance, but you dont need to change your oil that often, and you should be fine.
Oh btw, I wouldnt use quaker state for anything except maybe for my lawnmower, and that is questionable. Check out amsoil.com. They're severe duty oil is good for 12 months or 35,000 miles. Personally I would change that at about 6 months of hard driving but if its normal driving thats your choice. Synthetic Oils were designed to run longer and cleaner than mineral oil. Even Mobil 1 can be run for between 10-15,000 between changes. As long as you use a GOOD oil filter you should be fine. Bosch is probably the second best micron oil filter available. Amsoil filters are better. They are more expensive but you only change them twice a year, so you do the math.

you know I tried changing my valve cover gasket but the plastic is so chewed up in the cam cover it reached the little lip for the 4AG valve cover. I will post pics because I suck at explaining.

hehe.. My 90 GTS is just sitting at 158,000km right now, I'm starting to think about putting it away for the winter already. I think I'm gonna make a rule from now on, 8,000km per year max, that's it!

MY 4age has 300,000 miles on it, and i drive it the way it was meant to be driven every day. Zero problems. +1 for toyota reliability.

Not sure about 4ag-4age models, but a 4afe motor can be had in the 500 dollar range for a 40k mile engine.
