Door Won't Open

I have an '89 Corolla, 4-door. The right rear door one day just wouldn't open. And, yes, it's unlocked. I guess I'm going to have to remove the seat and try and pop out the door panels.
Anyone have any suggestions on what I should look at?

Tnx.

Did you try pulling on the door handle? If so I'm stumped without seeing it..

Probably a porblem with the lock, ie you can't unlock the door.

Just pull it apart and have a look, its all pretty simple in there.

Do you have child locks activated? I ask because I had the outside rear door handle stop working on me in my '90 4 doors. I took the door panel part way off (Toyota needs to look at VW window cranks, they are so much easier to take off), and reached inside. There is a rod that connects the outside door handle to the latch mechanism, and it had come off the outside door handle assembly. I popped it back in, but it was clearly missing an e-clip, so it didn’t stay in very long. This would not affect the inside door handle, but there may be something equally simple that affects both the inside and outside handles. I don’t have to access the rear "seat" area very often, so I have just been using the passenger side door.

lmao! i had the exact same problem in my '90, same door even! the clip that holds the bar to the inside handle was broken. to fix it, remove the window handle, unbolt the latch and door handle, and slide the latch handle off (i believe you have to slite towards he front of the car) then gently pull the edges of the panel and the whole thing should pop off. then you can open the door and see which clip is broken. if it wont open from the inside or outside, then most likely the child lock is on and the outside handle clip is busted. worse case scenario (not really that bad, but whatever) both the inside handle clips and the outside handle clips are broken. just make a trip to ur local junkyard for the clips.
