jacobs electronics by pass kit...

i was looking thru a jacobs parts book n stumbled across a electronic ignition by pass kit for the 4a motor. it by passes the internal coil in the distributor housing n you can use another after market ignition system . such as jacobs or ????? has anyone used this peice ??? does it work ???? any input would be greatly appreciated .. cuz i think mine is on its way south after 300,000km .. it has just stalled a few times . and also quit while i was blazing along at 120km on the highway .. but it fired right away when i hit the key it fired right up ...it was kinda freaky to say the least ... thanks a bunch ... drive hard n drive fast ..

which 4A motor is the kit for?? 4A.. F/FE/GE???

I've seen smallport 4AGEs with MSD ignition boxes, but I'm not sure exactly what they used to run it. My guess is that MSD ignitions are more direct plug and play than a Jacobs box would be.

I would hardly call 120km/h a "blazing speed" in Ontario as everyone always seems to be doing 140km/h on our 400-series highways.

Sounds more like ignition module failure than a coil failure.

in my part of the country .. mainly northern b.c. williams lake area there are lots of forestry roads to travel on sooo 120 k per hour on gravel roads is pretty quick ..especially at night .. deer n moose are usually on these roads ... n yeah 1220 pound moose versus corolla ???? i would definitally loose..
