(NOTE: Im not sure exactly where to ask this question)

Is it posssible to make a salvaged titled vehicle into a clean title? I have a corolla fx but the title is salvaged, and I want it to be clean.

The internet is your friend. Your location is listed as northern California, so here you go: http://www.dmv.ca.gov/vr/salvage.htm. About half way down the list is what you are looking for.

It may be as simple as an inspection and reapplying for a regular title. Lots of times when something goes to the scrapyard/salvage yard it automatically gets popped with a salvage title eventhough there is nothing wrong with it.
Electric Pi is right. Call your local dmv and ask them. Don't be too quick to give them your VIN until you've found out all the info first.

A salvage title is permanent. You'll never be able to pass it off as clean. I think FL, LA, and TX will issue 'clean' titles (but you have to live there), but a carfax check will ALWAYS come up with a 'salvage title' issued, regardless of state.

Best thing is to drive the car till the wheels fall off. No dealer will take it on trade, and if you sell the car private as 'clean' (regardless of state) you'll most likely end up in court.

What site are you looking at? Coz the link you gave doesn't say anything about turning a salvaged vehicle into a clean title.

As to the original poster, I've heard loop holes that can turn a car into a clean title, but there's no point to do it. Especially on an FX because it won't raise it's value enough to justify the costs needed.

Salvaged can be re-regisitered with a rebuilt title. It can never go to clean title again. Either salvaged or rebuilt.

If you are trying to remove a salvage brand from a normal title you are SOL (the whole point of brands is that they stay on the title), but if you are trying to convert a salvage title (cannot be registered for road use) to a normal title the link I gave has the information to do this. The new title will carry a salvage brand indicating that it was a salvage vehicle at one time, so you are correct that the title will not be completely “clean”, but it will be possible to register, insure, and drive the car.

There's ways to do it, but they involve more money than it's worth and most likely a law degree as well.
