I know that.

I was saying it can't "see" the boost because the ECU can't tell which map sensor is plugged into it. It will be using an N/A map.

The engine in this car was put on a dyno and the FPR was adjusted until the AFR's were safe all over the rev range. There is no "blind luck".

I know this is not the ideal setup, If I wanted to turbo a 4afe this is not the path I would choose. But I don't like it when people discredit an idea when the have no experience.

I getting sick of people say that this car the have never seen runs like crap. And this tread has served its purpose for it owner, So I'll not be replying anymore.

TheOtherCarolla: Good luck, and don't write an idea off because of someone else's opinion.

sounds like it will run pig rich at idle (if it even will), and it will run way too lean while on boost.

It's almost cheaper just to find an older turbo car. Like a starion, talon, jetta,

What other cars came with a factory turbo

I love the car, im not getting rid of it.

Its not worth hardly anything on trade in, nothing wrong with it. When I get some cash ill make it fast, but for now, its just cheaper and easier to find a dsm or another car with a stronger performance aftermarket.

Who cares about "performance aftermarket" support, when you can make your own stuff.
Sounds more like you're trying to turbo with a very low budget, yeah you can do it, but it has its risks. I'm with the others, save up and do it right.

But heres my point

114k miles. stock crappy clutch, needs new brakes and a lot of work done to it just to make it run smooth. Why spend the money on a car with that many miles when I can just find another car already. I know these little toyotas run forever, but I just dont have the money for one right now. Give me about 10 years and ill have the fastest Geo Prizm ever

7afe Turbo pushing 20+ lbs of boost

Yeah, its not like a 20 year old car is gonna be like a new car. Adding performance is never cheap.

YEah corolla from what i have read from this thread you will never go wrong doing it the right way. Something you do not want to run into is doing it the shorcut way blow your engine and then instead of spending 2400 for lets say Garrets aftermarket warrantied Turbo kit, you now out what 1500-2500 to find a rebuilt engine to drop in your car or maybe then better off buying a new car. But whatever you do do it right cause then you will never be wrong.
