Power windows problem

Hello everyone.

This is my first post here and I thought, after greeting everyone, I would ask for help with a problem I have with the driver's window of my Toyota Corolla 1993.

The problem is that this window somehow became disconected from the lifting mechanism and now is loose and in the down position. The motor works fine and it's the only window that doesn.t work. All the others work fine.

Can someone provide me with instructions on how reconnect it properly?

There are no broken parts as far as I can tell and there's no debris in the bottom inside of the door.

I appreciate all your help.

Regards.

Arturo.

Your best bet is to take the interior panel and door handle off and try to figure out why its lose, most likely a bolt broke off or came lose.

And oh yeah, bienvenido!

ANd yeah basically there is a mechanism that attachtes to the window that lowers the window down it is like on a slide or ruler. It hooks up to the window with like a cheap hard plastic piece if everything is still in tact it should just be mounted to the window by i think two or three screws. If that isnt the probelm then if the motor works fine, then it most likely has to deal with somewhere in between the attatchment to the window and to the rail that guides the window up and down.If for some reason the probloem is not right in front of you and you cant see it i would take off one of your other Interior panels and look to see if you can figure out what possibly could be the probelm. But yeah like Ren said it is probably a bolt so check it out and look around for it possibly right under your nose. Peace

You probably had either
The plastic "fingers" that attach to the glass come off [You really can't glue them back. You will probably need a new/used window].
The bolt holes in the plastic "fingers" break.
Or the bolts that hold the slides to the frame come loose.

Whatever it is, you need to remove the door panel and see.

Power windows problem

Thanks guys, for your promt response.

I have taken the interior panel off and, like I said, there's no signs of anything being broken. I agree that the problem is right there under my nose, but so far I haven't being able to see it.

I'll do what you suggest kyprocyclist86, and look at the setup on the passenger windows.

I'll ;et you guys know how this ends up and next time I'll be able to provide you with some photos.

By the way, all the screws are tight.

Thanks again.

I understand u have tested the motor from your first post, my question now becomes is it burned out enough to where it cannot raise the window but yet still function without the window attatched. To help you any further i need to know what you have doen to test the motor because if what you see is clearly everything still attatched and nothing broken and no debris anywhere inside the panel then i am starting to question the motor itself. Power windows are not very sophisticated but rather cheap and simple. So if everything is attatched and secure, how did you test to see if the motor is working properly with the window not being able to raise or lower?

Power windows problem

Thanks, kyprocyclist86

I see what you mean regarding the motor being burned out, but since the window is not attached to anything, except the tracking rail, I can only move it manually up and down and the motor spins when I activate the button.

Everything is attached and secure except for the window which is only attached to the tracking rail.

I guess my question is how come it became loose and there's no sign of broken parts or debris.........and how do I attach it again to the lifting mechanism.

I still have not been able to look at the passenger window but I will this coming weekend.

I been using Google to try to find some diagrams that can help me figure out this mystery but so far no luck.

Arturo.

damn dood it sucks to hear someone with the same problem i have with my corolla. I had to buy a whole new motor and switches for the drivers side door. Hopefully ill get the work done today or within the week cause it's a hassle when the window wont come up sometimes and it rains living in south florida.

well then that is odd. So you hit the button the motor spins correct and then the rod or coil that is spolled around the motor is then connected the raising mechanism which is attatched to the rail guide which the rail guide is hooked to the window and it does not go up or down? THat is very strange gosh i wish i could figure this out....this happened to my 89 camry i use to own before i blew the motor. I know someone who works at a Import garage i will give him a call tomorrow and see if he has any cars that he is working on and i know a guy at the toyota dealership near my house that may let me pop off the side panel of a 93 so i can see where are all the major hookups and see it run to get a better idea. I do not know if it is the same mechanism as in my camry being a bigger car and door i highly doubt it. Damn i wish this was simpler i hate doors and PLASTIC piecies whatever happened to good ole' days of steel and alluminum....oh well lighter i am sure is the reason. I see what i can find to help you anyway further that i can.
