Yup 4age or 4agze.

My pic would be the ST 20v as its simple to put in (compared to a gze) and its cheap. (compared to a gze or BT)

Plus the some ceres(s?) came with 20vs from factory.

I'd say they're about the same to install.... and cheap is relative. I'd rather have a 4A-GZE, than a 20V silvertop.

Apart from the gearbox issue, a gze will break a c series box.

The MR2 GZE came with the E51 remember.. setup for MR not FF like the E58, but it can be made to work with an FF setup.

No that is the issue. Its a PITA to find/put a E51 or E58 into a car not so equiped from factory.

1 custom engine mount + a big headache with driveshafts.

A 20v bolts in place. only problem is the wiring. and thats not hard.

You CAN keep the C52 or C56 with the GZE but you will eventually kill it if you beat on it. I know Aaron(4aaronGE) has a C52 mated to the GZE in his AE102 sedan and it's still alive, I think as long as you're not doing hard launches and burnouts, you'll be ok with a C series transmission with a GZE.

Nothing a Heavy duty clutch can't deal with.

No it wont, it will kill the clutch probably, but it wont kill the gearbox, unless you really suck in shifting and beat on it senslessly.

If you get one with the engine and tranny it would be less headache. If you go with a gze, do your best to get the whole front clip.

I've seen a stock gze strip the diff of a c series box, doing a hard(ish) launch. They are not that strong and I wouldn't put a gze behind one.

Although thats not the point, I was just saying the a 20v is less hastle.

Yeah, I dont doubt so, however, you can basically strip any box by beating on it. Evo's and STi's are very susceptible to gearbox damage on hard launches. Thats why you shouldnt do it.
