Lightbulb engine swap

I LOVE THIS SITE

I have a 1995 Toyota Corolla Ceres Engine model 5A-FE
Frame E-AE100-ATPGK I would like to know the best engine to swap so that I can do some weekend racing. If you had a choice which engine would you put in if any can fit a 4A-GE 20-valve or 3S-GE or 3S-GTE? Good opinions would be much appreciated. Thanks

Well i understand you want to do some weekend racing in this car but honestly if you want to build a race car before you start adding a whole bunch of power and dropping engines you might want to upgrade the suspension and handling and braking of the car itself otherwise you are just going to throw it into a wall cause the suspension cant handle it and unless you are going in a str8 line Front whell Drive cars are not the best race cars that is just my opinion but yeah. Good Luck with the Engine swap if you choose to do this. Peronally i would pick the 3S-GE. Because it will be extremely difficult to match the 3S-GTE to the trany from what i have read. "Toyota never mated the 3S-GTE to a FWD transmission. If you choose to use a stronger transmission you can use either the transmission from a MR2 or the rare V6 Camry transmission, both of which bolt on to the 3SGTE engine" this was pulled off of Toyota Celica online
website. http://www.toyotacelicaonline.com/celica1/3sgteswap.htm. Good luck on your decision. Wish i had that kind of money...lol

Toyota never mated the 3SGTE to a FWD transmission yet the swap is becoming very popular among FWD and RWD Toyota crowd as it can be done with custom work.

I would probably go with a second or third gen 4AGZE, only because it would be a direct swap, but from what I've seen it's not so hard to fit a 3SGE/GTE into AE Corollas.

^The MR-2 is rear wheel drive but its a complete FWD setup. Toyota just put the whole thing in the rear.
For the trouble of swapping a 20V, I'll go for the 3S-GTE. You'll need to cut and weld the side engine mounts. Find a 5S-FE tranny or Camry V6 tranny (better choice) or Turbo MR-2 LSD tranny (best), with axles. You can mix the inner and outter axle or switch wheel hub to Celica to fit the axles. I believe you'll need axle for the 20V if you got the 6spd tranny with it.
