New to oil change, need advice

i will be changing my oil this weekend on my Corolla 2004. I have a couple of questions:
I saw that the drain plug is not under but slightly sideways on the oil pan so i wonder if some old oil will stay and not drain. As someone else posted i plan to jack up the front of the car bring that "sideways" plug as much as possible on the lowest side, now, is this enough to drain all the oil?

a friend suggested to buy an extra quarter of new but inexpensive oil and pour it in the engine after that all the old oil has gone, this will flush the old residue away. Do you guys agree/do this? and it's an extra quart of oil enough to flush? also i would flush with some cheapo brand (same grade though) but then i want to put Mobil1 synthetic as my final oil. So finally there will be Mobil1 with some non-synth cheapo oil....is it ok to mix?
advice?
thank you

shall just go to jiffy as i always have?

take off the screw wait for the oil to finish draining ......replace the oil filter with the new 1......plug the drain...........insert new oil ...........if you want spend 7 bux and get a gallon of cheapo oil and poor that through your car just to waste money lol..............oh and its going to go slow if the car is cold it flows alot faster if the car is warmed up and more comes out i think

def I would have the engine in normal operating temp before changing the oil, but then also be careful because the oil will be hot

No need to flush. You'll never get all the old oil out. They're inside the pump, cam and crank passages. Just drain, replace filter and fill. I usually do it when engine is still warm. The oil flow better. Just make sure you hand tight the filter and put a bit of oil on the rubber seal first. You can just put Mobil 1. All kind of oil can be mixed.

Use M1 if it makes you feel warm and fuzzy but your car will run just as well on SuperTech oil 5W-30 SM and a ST filter.

To heat the oil and get all the loose stuff (particulates) flowing you really just need to drive around the block then jack it up and drain the oil. The oil and tranny fluid will heat much faster than what your water temp gauge shows. No need to flush, it won't make any measurable difference.
