which engine...

when its time to change engines in my corolla i will be getting a 4AGE motor.. heres my question...i have seen many different ones..heres a list. :

1. First Generation 4A-GE (16V AE86/AE82/AE92 88-89/MR2 NA)

2.Second Generation 4A-GE (16V AE92 90-91)

3.4A-GZE (AW11 SC/ AE92SC/AE101SC)

4.4A-GE 20 Valve (AE101/AE111)

any of thses motors i get will have the ECU and everything with them..pretty much a rip out and drop in kinda thing

alright....now which motor would drop right into my 1997 toyota corolla??

I dont think they can just drop in, you'll have wiring to do.
But they should "drop in" just fine otherwise.

They should all fit the "A" seies motor mounts. The mounting points on all of them should be about the same. Regardess of which one you "drop" in, you need to listen to what FLASHMN was telling you. On second thought dont worry about the wiring, your right... and to answer your question each of those engines are "A" series motors so they should fit.

Why not fabricate some piping yourself and locate the IC behind your front bumper ?
Much better cooling, less heatsoak.

or fit an air to water intercooler.

I'd go with GZE because naturally aspirated is boring.

There are a lot of options for that engine. Move this or that around or whatever you want to do in a lot of the cases. You can make your own hoodscoop with some fiberglass or use your hood and have someone do it for you. Its not hard to do either way. You just need to know the measurements for your cuts. It even easier if you have a BIG budget!
Then there is virtually no limit....
Good Luck

Or get a hood scoop from a mitsubishi pajero Turbodiesel and weld it on. Looks 1000x better than some fiberglass crap.

I'd recommend the 4AGZE. Torque for the win, plus you could ramp up to a 4AGTE with minimal effort. Not to mention source repair parts / manuals from the US, unlike the 20V.

You are already having trouble finding an ECU for a gze. Call around and see if you can find parts for your gze, not that you need them yet but just call around and do a "what if" and see if they can find whatever it is you are looking for. Good Luck

If you want to run a gze gearbox, (you should if you choose a 4agze) then you will need 3 new engine mounts.
