hi im new!! ae82 corolla gt (uk)

hi there excellent site, i have a problem with my corolla ae82 gt 4 age 1985 uk model and it has an anoying problem, wen starting from cold the auto choke goes up 3000 rpm which it shudnt and then wen its warmed up and goes to normal operating temperature the revs dies down then it just cuts off, annoying at the lights etc!! some told me that it mite b the throttle body?!?!? is that right? its the blue writing on silver back on the cam covers. any help will be thankful. cheers guys

dirty TB maybe.. could even be a dirty fuel filter or your fuel pump is going bad, which usually causes the car to stall.

wats a tb? u rekon it mite be the fuel pump? how bout the choke system, wats the comon problem on these? isit easy to take the throtle body out n clean it? plz tel me coz my roket is ill n i love the car

It's where your air filter box enters on your engine, there's the gas retractible control there..

It needs some detail to get into cleanning it, I recommend you take it to a mechanic and do it unless you're very confident..

im decent with cars, toyota engines are new, so it aint difficult to do? take it off and give it a clean no probs cheers!

If the revs hunt (go up & down) when at operating temp, try some carb cleaner at the throttle butterfly . Spray it in, wipe with a carb-cleaner soaked rag. Your revs will at least stabilize. I'm not sure about the gas you run in the U.K., but try running some premium with any engine-enhansing claims with it.
