You'll need to drill holes for clutch padel on firewall. Basically take everything in your car and swap to the other one.

You can use the auto computer, just have to trick it into thinking its in park or neutral so that it will start.

Gearboxs are the same, or at least are interchangable.

There is a plug going into the gearbox, (not the speed sensor) that needs to have 2 connectors bridged. At least that was the way it was on the 20v I helped swap in.

You just have to connect (bridge) two wires together.
Its easy to do, just gota find out which wires, I don't know enough about the FE's to tell though.

If you want to switch the ECU you have to change the wiring harness' as well. (assuming they are like GE's which they should be)

its the thick black wires, you also need to add resistors to the other wires which control the shift solenoids to prevent check engine lights.

I was wondering the same thing. If the cars are basically identical except for the tranny and everything else hooks up the same, it would be the same as doing an engine swap. The computer wouldnt know the difference. Why not just swap them it should take very little time and it will most likely be the easiest part of the swap.

Sorry dude, but Im not sure what you are trying to ask at this point. Are you going to use a manual transmission or an automatic transmission and what is currently in the car?

If you do a swap, swap EVERYTHING. Including ECU. Don't be lazy and screw it up.
On another hand, do screw it up so we can buy parts from you for cheap.

lol ok i have/had a 1.6l manual geo prizm the one i might be getting is a 1.6l automatic geo prizm. all i want to know is what i have to do to make the automatic prizm into a manual cause i really dont want to drive an automatic and i have everything to do it so i dont have to look for anything.

so from what i can understand is basically swap everything that has to do with the manual part of it and swap it into the auto? computer and everything?
