Hello everyone
i just bought a 88 AE92 like a month ago
only reason i bought it was cause i can actually aford gas for these plastic import cars and i didn't want the same honda/aacura sh** that everyone has
being a HUGE Oldsmobile fan... drivin this GTS was weird the first week but now i'm really really lovin it and i cant wait to customize the sh** out of it.
Now this is were i need help....i know nothing about this car...
i know where to get custom parts but i cant seem to find anything for this car or no one knows what it is... so if anyone can help me out please do.
Well you can make your own parts or have them made  thats what I do. plus if you just find parts for the AE92 sedan (4dr one) or 4A-FE/4A-GE engine, depending which u got.
I remember the days when people used to say to me "ssshhh..don't tell anyone about where you got this information..." etc...
Know exactly what you want, and work from there. Do you want to make the car quicker? Handle better? Do you want a dedicated race car or do you want a street brawler? Do you want NEON windsheild washer squirters?
i want to start with the looks and a bit of performance/handling....
i want a bodykit and so far the only one i've been able to locate is the BOMEX bodykit
everyone has this one and i wanted to know if here are any other ones outhere
short shifter/sway bars/tower braces/springs
i was thinkin of using TRD cause it's easy to find but expensive...
so if anyone know's were in scarborough or t.o. area to get these parts for AE92's at better prices and maybe even better quality
let me know..
>> i want to start with the looks and a bit of performance/handling....
If I were you, I'd work on the handling/performance first. Body kits come and they go...they look WACK on stock bodied/unmodified cars. I have friends that are into the scene that thought it'd be a great idea to get one of those "Combat" skirt kits first, then upgrade the rest of the car... couple of years later, the cars look so wack and the cars have f*ck all for performance. It's funny when they get revved at at stop lights... Body kits and other cosmetic things should be added on LAST, when you've been in the game long enough to know what will look good, suit your taste and will not come across as tacky no matter how long you own the car. (side note: all those guys running around with chrome 14" 5-star wheels on thier now rusty show-car Accords were once the envy of the hood--trust me, we'll see all the pastel colored cars looking just as WACK in a year or so..the newer the car, the quicker the fad fades into obsurity. ie, Rainbow headlights, chrome fender trim, clear sidemarkers, clear tail-lights, 21" rims on Civics...) In summary...keep it simple and understated in the styling department, but pack a whallop in the performance department. Personally, I think the AE92 looks pretty good with it's OEM side skirts, and wing.
I think it would benefit from good performance lowering springs coupled with decent shocks. That should turn the fun factor up, and at the same time, win cool points with your friends. Maybe meet up with people like Andrew, who own AE92's to get an impression.
As for wheels, 15-16" should suffice. All Honda sized wheels fit on the AE92, so you have a broad selection.
I think the AE92 looks pretty good with it's OEM side skirts, and wing.
HUH? OEM sideskirts? I assumer you're talking abotu the AE92 GTS coupe.. cause my 4dr ae92 doesnt have skirts  Heres my plan, I'm just going to put an nicelooking front bumper, no skirts and no rear wing, I dislike them.
Oh and honda rims fit on the 92? so if the rim was lets say 15x7, it wouldnt scrub when at full lock? cool!
jover is right .. do internal mods.. make sure ur car goes fast not just look fast.. looking fast ppl will revv with u on the light and since u got no performance mods u'll look bad...its nicer to keep the sleeper look of the car esp a corolla... makes ppl think twice (hmm can i beat him? or will kick my a$$??) plus body kits weigh down ur car.. if u have a GTS ae92 its a good track car in stock form save up for a 20valve motor swap and u're off dude.. handling wise nice new suspension would be good thats it... and u never have to worry about being beat and the good part is when u do beat someone they will go ( a corolla just kicked me??)
hehe good luck with ur finds!!! all show no go !! sux (sorry jeff!!) hehee
stick with performance, and AHEM MAINTENCE.. if you want thsi car to last, then get brakes, clutch, and rust all taken care of. the engine is bullet proof, no doubt. ( as my 8200 rpm redline can testify  ) do a maintnece inspection and make sure all your brakes are clamping with equal force, the sliders are all intact and working correctly. make sure the clutch and brake master/slave cyc's are not leaking.. check the engine for oil leaks, integrity of spark plug wires, ignition system.. all accessory lighting. a compression check on the engine, make sure the steering rack doesn't leak. check the rear fenders for rust.
and damn it, post a picture!
hope to see you at the next meet!

i did the engine mod's on my oldsmobile wagon and blew the sucker before i even had the chance to do body mods that's why i wanted to try the body mods first then performance...
but if performance is... sorry it is more important so i guess i should stick to doin that first..
and the 86 supra motor... will it fit???
or the late 80's or even the early 90's celica motor... can it fit????
if you want loads of excitement, then devote your resources to getting a 4a-gze. that is a super charged version of your current engine, used in the first gen mr2 supercharge.
hell if you really have that much money, hire me and i can be your conversion consultant! hahahaha
in japan, our cars came with a sueprcharge option rigth from the factory. now the hot thing is turbos cuz 10 years ago turbo technology wasn't so effecient. but now turbo tech is really great. spooling even at low rpms. so do the gze conversion. use that ecu, take off the sc, bolt on a turbo, use the oil cooler lines to feed and drain the turbo and bam your done.
get an e51 tranny with an LSD and push 10 psi on stock internals..
do all that and i would love to own your car!

When I first bought my AE92 I had the same ideas that you had for the car, but now (3 Years) Later I think I'm actually done fixing the car to be ready for performance and body parts.
So far, I have nothing cosmetic done to the car other than Paint Job, Rims, Lowering kit. Bit so far, I love the look of my car, notice that mine is an SR5 and not a GTS. So, if I ever wanted to add looks to my car I'd definetly go with the OEM skirts, I don't know about the wing, I'm not a big fan. I like a nice flushed trunk..
But trust me, knowing the AE92 you have allot of catching up to do, mechanical and appearance wise. PLus remember, if your car has the least rust on it, you don't want to put a body kit on it.. So work on restoring the car basically and get to doing it up...
