So i have a friend that has a 1994 rolla and he wants to drop a 96 5sfe out of a camry in it..Is this do-able?
He has the wiring harness-stock tranny..Etc.
Yay or Nay?
if so what does he have to mod..Just motor mounts, Im guessin

Hmm..usually ppl swap engines for hp advantadges..
Do I look like a newb? I'm questioning the choice of a 5SFE as there are way better choices for a swap than a 5SFE. He'd have less trouble swapping a 20V 4AGE or a 4AGZE.
I agree with pineapple, too much work for a 20hp with a motor that the Camry guys are getting rid of because they also have better choices. If he wants to go thru ALL the trouble of dropping an S motor, then he'd be better off finding a 3SGE or 3SGTE, same trouble, more hp.
Dood chill..the thing is, I have a nicely bult 5sfe (and w/low miles) and he has a rolla w/a blown motor..Rather than to just replace it for stock..Im going to sell him mine for less then he would have to pay at a boneyard..and get 20 ponies to boot

Well.. if he's your friend and you're giving him the wrong choice.. hey why not! what are friends for!
Keyword here is "custom mounts" I believe at least 1 or 2 mounts will have to be custom built for this swap, if you think making your friend spend a few grand just to get rid of your motor, go for it dude.. he's your friend.
Man, Its not even like that.He came to me about the motor.
Its just sitting in my garage, Collecting dust.
he needs an engine..I have one.
Good deal for both of us.

He'll need to cut and weld the 2 side mounts. Figure out how to connect ECU to dash. May need to combine front axles from both car to use the tranny on the 5S. He can also swap wheel hubs from the Camry for bigger brake. Same amount of work for a 200HP 3S-GTE swap.
A 7A-FE is a simple bolt-on for him.
So you're charging him $500 for a motor that's barely worth $250.
The price is not the point though, it's the fact that he's going to do the same amount of work that a 3SGTE would take to fit in a Corolla. Just do it damnit! at least he'll be 3SGTE ready if he ever wants to go that way.
