2001 Headlight Problem

I just got a 2001 Corolla LE, and it's working great so far. Except the headlights turn on automatically okay, but the headlight switch won't turn them on. It turns on the tail lights and parking lights on just fine, but not the headlights. What could this problem be?

I should also add, I don't hear the headlight relay clicking when I try to turn the headlights on. My DRLs are functioning.

Dude, I think you just answered your own question. It's probably a relay or fuse. Check it out.

Actually I thought I had DRLs working but I don't. All my fuses and relays are okay, but the DRL relay is only getting the signal to turn parking lights on when I turn the headlights on.

dude, are you sure that you have a control for the headlights? I mean on that year/model they may just come on automatically.

Okay.. So the auto sensor will turn your headlights on okay, but you have no DRLs and you cannot manually turn your lights on? That is definitely an odd problem. Are you absolutely sure your fuses are good? Could it be the turn signal/headlight stalk itself that might have something wrong with it?

hello,
i am having the same problem with my 98 corolla.
the headlight switch onlky turns on the parklights, but not the headlights, or the highbeams.
from my research, mostly people think it may be the DRL relay. has anyone tried changing it and got good results?/?

pls update this thread if possible.

thank you very much in advance.

regards
cuneyt
