93 corolla charging problem...

i have a 93 corolla 1.6 automatic with a weird charging problem
the car had a blown alternator fuse, so we replaced the fusebox with a proper working fuse, the battery still wont charge. the car has a new battery and we have tried 3 different alternators in this car, they all have the same results. i put a multimeter between the + bolt on the alternator and a common ground, it read .7 volts so obviously the alternator is not charging enough...is it possible we got three bad alternators? is the car popping alternators? the car runs like a champ when connected to another car via jumper cables. completly stumped dont know what to do with this car.

helppp

Put the multimeter on the battery posts and see what its reading. Disconnect the battery while the car is running and see if the car continues to run. With the battery disconnected from the alternator get a reading on it. If you still have bad readings I would check the cable that runs from the alternator to the battery. You may have to unwrap the looming/tape around your harness, but thats ok, you can always retape it. I would check the engine ground as well.

ahh sorry forgot to mention i did infact test the alternator's output with the cable disconnected and the car running off another cars charging system, the alternator puts out .7ish volts at idle and maybe a maximum of 4v when revved

ive been told it may be the voltage regulator....makes sense....does anyone know where they are located on this rolla? not inside the alternator i'm assuming

out of curiosity what do the three wires on the oval plug going to the alternator do?

How do you test the alternator's output by running off another cars charging system? I dont understand what you did?

All I meant was to do this: If the car will crank, then crank it up, pull the battery cables off of the battery. Check the output voltage of your alternator while your car is running off of your own alternators power. While you have your car running on its own power turn on the headlights and see what the voltage is then. Oh yeah..... This may sound stupid but what range on your meter are you using to check the voltage? If its to low or to high, you know that can change your reading....

Good Luck

Check ground wires.

Check power wire to alternator

Check voltage regulator for Alternator

Make sure your battery posts are clean

Far as I know its in the alternator. Sounds like somebody is giving you bogus alternators or maybe one for a different year than what you asked for.

Now I would check the wire from the alternator to the ECU too.

Check www.club4ag.com technical specs section. Dont get all into the chat section. Just go to the tech section and see if you can find anything. I'm sure someone out there has one somewhere.
