USA 01 corolla steering wheel wobble

I've devoloped a wobble in my steering wheel. Would this be due to front end parts wearing out or could it be maybe from an out of true brake rotor?

That was the first thing I did do. It lessened the severity but it's still there. Thank you for your response.

how old are the tires? maybe they've developed flatspots or bubbles, maybe time to get new ones.

Where is the wobble or vibration coming from, is it the steering wheel or from under the seat. Does it wobble while braking, cornering or what? What year/model is your car?

if you checked the balance, have you hit any pot holes lately?
What speed does it wobble at? A little more detail would help significantly.

It is a '01 Corolla. The tires are not that old, maybe 15k. The wobble is in the steering wheel usually at around 60 mph. The car has about 130k mi. on it. Since i'm the second owner I don't know the service record of it. I bought it about a year ago but the wobble just started.

who checked the balance? Your symptoms wreak of a balance issue. Could be the shop; could be that some of the weights fell off.

Most likely out of round tires. I just bought a lil 93 that had small but new tires on it, no wobble. Put on a set of tires that have been supporting an unmoved Celica for the past 2 years, had fixaflat in them, and now the steering wheel turns my hands numb at 55-60 (either from settled fixaflat gunk or flat spots on tires).

Best way would be to swap on known 'good' tires and take it for a spin so you can compare before dishing out for new tires. Or just swap your rears and fronts and see if that helps (out of round tires in the rear shouldnt make the steering will shake).

My mother has a 01' Corolla and had the same problem. The front shocks was worn so I changed them and then bought new tires. The tires were out of round due to the worn front shocks. It now runs smooth at 60 mph.

An out of round tire is a possible cause, but that should have been picked up when a wheel balance was done
