whats a redish fluid in engine

Ok well i woke up the other day and m car was dead except the lights and radio....i left it and came back to it 2 hours later opened the hood and a pinkish red fluid all over my battery pack and it finally started up but i still cant figure out the fluid was...and no i def. wasnt transmission fluid....

Long life coolant.. it's red as opposed to the green regular coolant, Toyota uses the long life on all their cars now and it can't be mixed with the green one.

I don't think your telling the whole story....What happened the night before did the car
over heat or something, have any problems with the car prior to this morning?....Was there red stuff on the battery when you first came out and checked it?........

if it was really sticky.... it could be battery protectant as well.... someone might have gone overboard (if you took your car to a shop recently)
