might be getting another GTS :)

I might get another corolla gts for dirt cheap but there is a problem. The guy told me there is a broken sensor in which the engine is not getting any spark. What could this be? Should I even bother to get the car?

the connector on the start is corroded maybe? that would cause it not to start sometimes..

Even if it doesnt start/run right away, and you can pick it up for a decent price, you wont lose anything. There arent that many things to investigate for the car to engage the starter. How much is the asking price for it?

1. The ignition switch/wiring
2. The starter connections
3. The battery connection to the starter
4. The starter itself

ok.....

if the owner of the car says "it won't run, it needs a sensor, it doesn't get spark".... then it's the ignitor.....

BUT if the car every now and then *does* start... it is NOT the ignitor..... probably just a bad coil (or even coil wire.... my ae92 eats coilwires..... it's been through 1 set of spark plug wires and 4 coilwires)

if the engine just doesn't crank over... first thing i would try is checking the grounds... the easiest way to do this is to use a jumper cable.... run from the negative to somewhere on the block near the starter.... if it starts, then replace some ground wires (and maybe add one or two).... had this problem in one of my mr2's (replaced starter after starter... only to find out it was ground issues)

Braided steel works great for engine grounds.
