IDing the 7A

How can you Identify a 7AFE motor, visually? How is it different? Could i look at the VIN, and if so, what would i be looking for? Or is it stamped on the motor somewhere? I was doing the junkyard crawl today and came across a bunch of AFE cars, just couldnt figure out which was which. Thanks guys.

the 7A has an aluminum stiffener that bolts to the bottom of the block and then the oil pan bolts to the bottom of it, or on the front of the block up against the tranny side there is a flat spot about halfway down, there will be 7A or 4A stamped there

I use the oil pan thing because its way faster....
