Charging system problem

Hey guys, i just finished yet another redtop swap, got it on the road at 4AM, lasted about 5 minutes before the alternator warning light sprung up. i, furiouse of coarse after such a long days work, flew home and tried to change the alternator. poped it in, start her up, and long and behold, same problem. charging light still on. now i did nto rip the car that badly, i only reved maby to 6 at most, and had no signs of troubel otehr then a small squeel that it hink coudl ahve been caused by the lack of exhaust gaskets, because it did nto sound like it was coming from the alternator.
just looking for some suggestions, i mean, i highly doubt that i ran across 2 dead alternators. and besides, it was working superbly for the first 5 minutes, lol.
i was thinking it could also be a fuse, which i have not checked yet, and i looked at both of the connectors the ground and the ecu connector. and everything seems fine.
just looking to see if anyone has any more ideas, tnx.
