FYI Repalcement K&N Air Flter

The replacement K&N Air Filter is 33-2672 just like all the other 98-02 Corolla/Prizm's, not the 33-2252 that is recommended on K&N website for 2002 1.8L. The 33-2252 is for the 03 to current Corolla.

(Longer Story)
The 33-2252 is about 3/4" inch too narrow. The numb nut at K&N, says they test fit one on a 02 and that Toyota must have made a running change. I highly doubt it. He question my motor size and whether or not my car was original/modified. I was trying to get them to change the fitment chart and to pay for my shipping charges that I am incuring because of their mistake. He was insistent as hell and didn't seem to care their info was incorrect. I am mature 30+ year old adult, he just want to argue that he was right, I am above that. I ended up hanging up on him.

What a douche.

I have seen that generation mistake before. The 2002 gets lumped in with 9th gen for some reason. That should be a flag if you buy anything and it says you need a different one for a 2002 than a 2001 since they are the exact same car

I have my theory on why the 2002 model gets lumped in with the 9th gen. The matrix and the corolla are essientially the same cars cept ones a wagon. They share many engine parts and probably suspension parts too. Matrix started in 2002 and not many people know that the 9th gen corolla started in 2003. That is my theory. Ive seen this happen millions on times on ebay and other sites.

I will have to remember that. I am already finding some places don't have a complete list of part for Prizm.

I haven't gotten it, yet. I am returned the incorrect part. I should have it by next weekend.

Honestly, I am buying this part because its reuseable, though truth be told every one of my cars as well as my wife cars have had K&N's. I am not really doing it for performance (my air filter is dirty and the orignal) The local parts store told me $18.99 for a regular air filter. This one is $36.xx from summitracing. I usually replace my air filters every two year, this save me money in the long run.
