Thumbs up I did it..

So I bit the bullet and ordered a header/downpipe/exhaust for my 4afe. I was thinking about going the turbo route, but i really didn't have the knowledge to do so, so I opted just to do the engine rebuild route. I pulled the head off, thinner headgasket, ported/bowlblended head, 11:1 compression forged pistons, forged rods. I'm saving up for some cams now.

4AFE
5 Speed
11:1 compression
Ported F head
Cams - comming soon
Forged internals
Air intake, true cold air
Header
Downpipe
Exhaust
Gutted interior
17' Tsw wheels
205/40/17 Fuzion ZRis
Intrax lowering springs
Strut bar
Fabbed Rear tie bar upper and lower
Koni shocks

Im hoping for a 15 flat in the 1/4 sometime.

all of that, and you're keeping the F head? swap to a G head!

I agree with the head swap idea, as GE cams are cheaper and you have more options and devlopment etc. etc.
But if you don't want to thats sweet.

Aftermarket ECU?? with that + the above I would expect less that a 15.
(maybe some light weight 15" wheels for the strip)

Good luck and don't forget the pics.

infact, why build what already been built. save your money and put in a 4age and do all that work to it. it'll be a MONSTER and easily turn out 120WHP

from 80whp (optimistally) to 120whp is a pretty big leap! 40whp is 50-60 crank. that'd be a 140-150 crank hp 4age which isnt anything stunning but is completely streetable and should be pretty reliable. i doubt he wants to drive around on 105 octane race gas and have it cost $70 a tank to fill up!

I know the 4age is a little better as far as aftermarker support and what not, but I want to be different. Sometime down the line if I can pick up a g head relatively cheap, ill do the swap. This car is pretty fast already for what it is, the exhaust should help it out a bit.

The 17's are my street tires, I really don't like how big they are, but they were free, so i drive the piss outta them. I have some hoosier pro's on my stock 14in wheels.

I really need to gut my car again. Ditch the backseat, all my clothes, old taco bell bags, and 70's v8 cast iron intake manifold.

I raced an svt focus the other night and he was suprised when he didn't pull off and leave me.

Hahahaha, even my volvo has 204hp as stock. and even that is far from a monster. Now a 600hp 200SX is close to becoming a "monster".

I've got a 4age from my 89gts. Only reason I pulled it was to drop in a 20vST. You need the head or the block?

hey whats going on i have the same engine in my 1993 corolla and ive just started doing work on it so far i just have a super short cust shifter, strutbar, cold air and have gutted the whole are exept for the carpet and driver seat...i've got headers and a muffler comeing in the mail...i thought u didnt need a downpipe if you get headers? idk i could sound like a total idiot too haha but i thought the headers exteneded long enough to reach the cat? my muffler's being inst an a day or so and im haveing the mid-muffler removed so theres just a strait pipe running from the cat to the new muffler...where did you get a set of forged pistons and rods and soon to be cams from for our type of engine? is it a shop by you or is there a site? i've been looking all around and i cant find a site that has anything aftermarket for the engine block for the 4a-fe?

I also want to play with the FE headed engines, quick question why not start with the 7A-FE right off the bat you got 10 extra HP and 15ft/lbs to play with.....

Also... are you planning on running on premuim (91) with 11:1 If so where have you gotten your info on that because im getting mixed feelings on 10.5:1 running 91 octane, although im having a hard time finding a good shop that knows toyota's or just import 4 bangers to do the work or advise me on my idea.

goooopher: The headers will replace the stock manifold and the stock downpipe they will tie straight into the cat.
