Canada selling after accident

Hi to everyone

This is only my second time that I am posting a question,

I have a 2003 corolla sport model. A few months ago on the highway I was hit by another car on my passenger side. After some time Icbc said it was not my fault & that they would pay for everything. The estimated cost of replacement door + paint job is totalling $3000.

My question is now that I wish to sell the car but will I lose another $3000 off the price that I was originally going to sell the car for ($16000) ? It has 95000 km.

I know that I would be better off to sell the car privately but I guess I also have to tell the buyer that the car was in an accident which means that I will have to write down the figure on the transfer papers - it being higher than $2000.
Does anyone know if there is a way around this, or does it just mean that I will lose the cost of the damage ?

Thank you everyone

Bobby

I'd still mark down the "damage over 2K" box on the transfers. It's better to tell them straight up than to possibly get charged for fraud. A lot of vehicles have been damaged and fixed, it just depends how good the repair job is.

Your are correct about being sued for fraud. You must disclose any significant information about the vehicle.
You might want to think about the insurance company making up for any losses you might incur. They will most likely tell you to go jump in a lake or something, but if you start talking about going to court for your additional loss they will sometime split the difference. Its up to you. Is your neck feeling ok, and your back isnt stiff is it?

Yea from what I know you HAVE to tell the owner about an accident as your suposed to supply a report for the car to potential buyers (by law here on ontario) but it's rare anyone does it :s...

here in US if u dont disclose (i think the amount is $2000) worth of damage u can get sued for fraud..... better tell them right up front and as long as the repair was done properly then u have nothing to worry about....

Put it for sale and let the buyer know that the door was replaced and the car was fixed by the insurance, also include the Car history report with the sale, I know in Ontario is mandatory to include it, not sure how it works in BC.

As long as the car was not written off and then rebuilt, you have nothing to worry about by telling the buyer about the door being replaced and the car being repainted on the side, it may influence the price a little, but people will still buy the car.
