door trigger on 06 corolla

Hi,

I want to get some cathodes installed in my rolla but since I have no experience in electrical or wiring, i need some help. I've been doing my reading and from what I can gather, this is how it's suppose to be done

Constant 12v (im thinking my cig wire) to 87 and 86 on relay
85 gets wired to my switch and ground the switch
85 goes to door trigger wire
30 goes to + on my cathode
cathode negativge gets grounded

This is the diagram i found by 88le, this is how it's suppose to be done right?

does that seem right? Also, does anybody know where I can find the door trigger wire? A picture of where it is located would be greatly appreciated. Sorry if I sound retarded but please understand that i'm completely new to all this.

Also, what would happen if i dump the relay and just hook up the ground wire from the transformer to the door trigger wire? I would have osmething like this

12v (cig wire) to switch
switch to fuse to CC positive
CC ground gets split into 2, 1 going to door trigger, 1 going to some random ground wire.

Would that work? Sorry it sounds dumb or make no sense.

I was thinking of doing that but I don't want the dome light to be on if the CC are going to be on. If the dome light were to be on, it would overshadow the CC. If I hooked up the power to the dome light, wouldnt the CC be controled by the domelight switch also?
