Hi,

Can anyone help me in removing a 1998 corolla stereo? I am at my wits end. I purchased a new stereo for the car, but I cannot get the old one out. I have the manual which came with the car, but there are absolutely no instructions on removing the stereo.
I removed all screws that I could gain access to and tried to pull it out, but all I got from that was a bent front plate on the stereo and the fuse for the internal light in the car also somehow blew. I do not want to try again!! I read online that the dashboard panel must be removed, but there must be a difference between my car (UKversion ) and the US version - all the photos and instructions I have found refer to a totally different styled dashboard than the one I have.

I have no clue what to try next -- can anyone help??

It's the one for the 1998 Corolla SD , which is in the list. I couldn't attatch the picture to this post, unfortunately.

The dashboard goes into a kind of 'hump' where the stereo is housed - a friend had a look at it today and reckons that this part should slot out - can anyone confirm?
